Jechts Rant #10 TRUE boy racers!
ok, now this is probly a touchy subject for alot of you out there who have been bugged by the police or moved on by the police because of idiots coming in doing handbrake's, spinning the wheels, doing burnouts on a curb cos they have no real engine power or blasting there 1990's hardcore music thru factory speakers while bouncing there cars over speed bumps thinking they look so hip layed back with a car full of ppl ... :
i also know that alot of you are old enough to know for a FACT that ppl who do the stupid things in there cars are NOT boy racer!
now boy/girl racers are getting a bad rap these days because of all the idiots being silly in there cars, now we have all done stupid stuff in cars, its how you learn not to do it as it just trashes your car when it goes wrong, so why call them boy racers when there clearly not?
for those of you (sighs) .. i cant believe i'm saying this, i'm only 25 
for those of you who are too young to remember the boy racer days of the 80's and 90's i would like to inform you of some well known facts.
the boy racer is hard to find, if you are a PROPER boy racer, your over 25! as anyone who learned to drive after 2001 is more of a poser than racer as after 2001 you had all the imports cos of fast and the furious becoming HUGE and such cars like the RS turbo and cossy being left parked up in garages or sold onto old ppl as there daily drives, most of them just gave up completely as it became more about sitting in car parks than about hitting the roads and racing from A to B.
in 2001 the police also cracked down hard, most the boy racers went to jail or had there cars inspected by the DVLA inspection unit and crushed for illegal mods so they retired from it all and probly all have family's now wishing there ppl carrier had alot more power!
i know ALOT of you are going to tell me i'm wrong, alot of you will also know i'm right.
but this is simply my opinion from being into cars since 94 and growing up drooling over the 800bhp cossy down the road, my first car was going to be an xr2 cos i wanted to fit the rs turbo engine in it with 300bhp just like my big brother's escort lol
this is half the reason i got the mk4 1.8t to start with, i've always wanted a petrol turbo car but couldn't afford the vw one, so once i could, i got one!!
ALSO, the boy racer wouldn't do stupid things like burnouts or handbrakes for 1 really big, kinda important reason ... if your racing a car faster than you but you know you can take it on the roundabouts .. would you ruin your high end tyres by doing burnouts ?? no, you wouldn't.
you also don't handbrake turn once you've mastered it as this ruins your tyres and could twist the chassis and ruin handling.
the boy racer car's are about 1 thing .. looking standard but having alot of power under the bonnet
so they have no subs .. they might have a person in the front seat but no one in the back, there about lightness, speed and handling. Not about looks and how loud there stereo is..
i would of loved to of had a proper car while the boy racer's where still about, would of been truly fun to get out there and and have truly high speed fun, but times change, speed cameras came along and speed bumps ruined it all...
some would say there like the old samurai's from japan, gone .. but never truly gone.
long live the last few boy racers, may the roads remain free and clear, your tyres stay fresh and sticky, your breaks stay nice and firm and your high performance engines run smooth and trouble free.
