A small compact touch screen from Mimo with the UM-720s
 | A brilliant little unit...but is it worth the current $200+ price tag?
Better yet do you already own one but had massive issues setting up the touch screen?
This is for you also then... |

Having already purchased a Mimo UM-730 a month ago I found myself quite impressed with being able to have extra desk space and only having to plug in a single USB cable to use it.
The Mimo functionality really is quite simply when being used as just a monitor as most systems I have used the UM-730 on didn't even require drivers installing to use it!
However my fairly tail in wonder land story soon stopped after my brand new UM-720s arrived
Installation was needed as having touch screen abilities requires drivers so I decided to "go by the book" and follow instructions for setting up... My headache begins... Actually using the UM-720s as a monitor was as simple as the UM-730, Windows seen it and it was ready for use instantly however the touch screen side is another story entirely.

The instruction manual states that factory default touch screen settings have been applied but recommends you calibrate the screen any-ways, so I did The instruction manual reads:
page 14 "Installing Touch screen controller (um-720s only)"
Step 4: quote "Select the monitor number of the installed mimo"
This means when you calibrate your Mimo the display screen to calibrate is displayed on the Mimo monitor.
This is WRONG
The Mimo UM-720s is a touch screen but not as you think... The touch screen actually functions on your primary monitor not the Mimo itself, The result is the calibration software always shows too large no matter how you play with the settings. (because the calibration software adopts your primary screen resolution to run in...ON your Mimo monitor which is obviously much smaller)
The fix!
IGNORE the instruction manual it's misprinted, I've had several e-mails back and forth between Mimo customer service in which when I figured out the issue they stopped responding.... Convenient....
In adjust settings where your informed to select the Mimo monitor number DON'T!, Instead select your primary monitor then click calibrate.
This will now show the calibration software on your main primary screen NOT the Mimo, For corner points click the very edge of the Mimo screen in the area it asks, The ones in the middle just guess best you can as after testing it doesn't matter anyways.
Simply click finish to save the settings when you have clicked all the points, Just like magic now the Mimo fully works in proportion to my primary screen when using my finger on the touch screen!!!!!!!!
I've tested this method on various resolutions and different PC's AND my laptop for good measure. If you follow the book it won't work, simple as.

Well the final verdict from me is that if you want a touch screen that works ON the touch screen the Mimo 720s is not for you, If you want a USB monitor and think it's cool then buy a UM 730 as it's cheaper and does what it says on the box essentially.
I don't see how a company could claim touch screen use when it only effects other monitors as advertising but I'm not a lawyer or attorney of any sort to know
