Mission Impossible for free sites: Advertising the non 10 step Spam program way
 | Advertising your site for free and expecting high traffic is a mission all in its own.
These days there is thousands of guides how to go about it and we believe experiences shared can save time for many others. |
Running a web site which does not bring either enough money or no money to advertise using paid methods leaves many site owners with the task of advertising there site for free which most times will work reasonably well for most but also takes a longer time and often not the amounts of traffic they where hoping for.
Obviously search engines lead the way for traffic building but most leave submitting there site to a search spider at that, Others also submit there site maps to search engines so that the engine can crawl your site to look up content, links and appropriately rank your site according to the search engine standards. However this should only be the start of your advertising run...
For example:
| Web browser Josh see`s www.URL.com on a search engine while flicking around but doesn't give much though to it. |
Web browser Josh gets told from his friends about www.URL.com and see`s it tied in other sites too, Now Josh wants to know what www.URL.com is all about. |
This is essentially what is called back linking or reporical linking where your 2nd step should be to start searching where you are submitting too for sites alike yours and requesting links while offering a link to there site in exchange, Search engines see this and you will be ranked higher is the content is related.
Common sense stuff out of the way
These days there is plenty of big sites around that allow you to submit content for free along with descriptions and URL. Sites such as Youtube, Ebay, Torrent (peer to peer), blog sites, RSS feed all allow you to submit something either for free or very little cost and I can already hear some say "it has nothing to do with my site..." MAKE it something to do with your site! Creative content relating to your site will go a long way and more importantly search engines ALSO crawl these sites and will see your content giving you MORE free listings again.
Ebay is a funny one to some but something as simple as getting a T-shirt made with your site logo on it and putting it up for SUPER cheap with your site URL attached will either get you a little bit of moneys, but more importantly:
Get your listing viewed and drive traffic to your site
Again search engines will index your listing and gain you more reporical links
Getting you further known and increase the chance of word of mouth advertising
(friends tells friends)
It does not matter how much money you charge and even giving a discount on the item will go a long way, choosing you category is important cars, toys, furniture, computers and laptops, electronics are all areas that do very well and you can have anything pretty much custom made these days so the possibility's are pretty endless.
Youtube is one of the greatest media sharing methods ever to be released on the Internet to date and there are thousands who are using Youtube as an advertisement medium. Of course straight up advertising will get down rated, bad mouthed and the rest of it so getting creative is the key.
If you plan to do a straight advertising video then embed it on your own site too regardless where, You can then state your using Youtube for content hosting for your own site but also drive traffic on the Youtube side.
The description for videos accepts URL, Images and other click able linking mediums so make use of it! This is where people will mostly read PRIOR to watching the video.
OTHER video sites now feed of Youtube for content themselves! cheeky but who cares it works for you! The better your video and description with correct linkage to your site will result in more advertising across the board.
Torrent / Peer to peer sites?! almost every public uploading torrent site has a RSS feed which is cross indexed over many sites, search engines and other places!. If you supply pictures, story's, news whatever think of something to put together, Create a torrent from it (if you do not know how CLICK HERE) and submit it too sites like:
http://www.seedpeer.com
http://www.mininova.org
Once you have submitted that's all the sites do the rest of the work!
RSS is a topic I will not cover but more give a brief on as it will require your own research or paying for a service to set it up for you. Given that stonerscolony has only officially been running a RSS output for little over a week now the traffic flow its providing is great I cannot say fairer than that really. Making sure to hit popular blog and RSS submit sites was all that was needed and the result of which are already viewable in engines like Google from content released less than 24 hours ago.
