Volkswagen Mk2 Polo plans for modifying and build plans
After much discussion recently with Mr Jecht our very own counter staff lay about here regarding his plans for a new car for either 2009/2010 and wanting to do a trip to the Nurburgring in Germany which I have for quite a few years wanted to do also.
So this blog sets a record for a trip in planning for apparently 2010, Jecht in his car and me in my 5th Generation built Mk2 Polo.
While Jecht never got the chance to attend Santapod drag strip, drag racing a Mk2 Polo is a T-shirt I already have so the Nurburg sounds like fun
The plan is pretty simple this time learning what I have in the past to take the best route this is basically the plan-ish:
Buy a 1.3 litre Mk 2 Volkswagen Polo hopefully around 1986-1988 built in a 3 door hatch
Strip the Polo completely this includes: ALL interior (inc dash/loom), Engine, Panels, doors, boot-lid, Whole wheel assembly's
Leaving a shell with a steering column and rack
Taking paint layers back to primer and after rust attention primer paint the whole shell
New Interior carpet custom fitted, G40 Polo Front semi-racing seats in black
Interior back end gutted out with the front interior carpet following through-out back of car including up the side walls of boot area for sound insulation.
New boot-lid simply de-badged with a rear anti roll bar across strut points
New dashboard standard with integrated pod dials for Battery, RPM and temperature
BOSS steering wheel adapter with suede MOMO steering wheel (there comfy as fk)
MOMO full metal racing pedal as original Polo pedal suck
Rewiring Loom by hand as always with electric kill switch for none essential electrics when needed (I.E racing turn on switch leaves all the juice for the engine)
New front brake callipers (twin pots) with drilled+grooved disks , new rear drums and shoes all on original end of line Mk2 Polo swish allows (seen on my black saloon in the linked blog)
Bilstein suspension full set, springs and shocks inclusive of a 40MM drop in ride height
RS2 Body kit still trying to resource so unknown
New front wings and bonnet + de-badged grill
Engine is still for me to know and for you`s to find out
Enjoy this Jecht I'm holding you too it now.
